The Opportunity

  • We are currently seeking an Engineering Coordinator to join our Central Engineering Department in St John’s, NL.
  • This is a permanent hybrid position, working on a Monday to Friday schedule working primarily from the St. John’s Office.
  • As an Engineering Coordinator, you will responsible and accountable to ensure that all engineering projects being are completed within budget, on schedule, and meet or exceed the owner’s requirements. The role holder is expected to understand complex engineering projects, participate in engineering site visits, engineering project reviews, and design PHRs, ensure an adequate level of engineering has been completed, and that it has been completed according to relevant Vale Engineering Standards.
  • Additionally, in this position you will:
    • Facilitate the engineering request and approval process.
    • Build, maintain, and report department KPIs using Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate.
    • Act as the first line of contact between the Engineering & Studies group and consultants, as well as Vale’s operations.
    • Communicate engineering priorities of the plant/mine to consultants and prioritize work accordingly.
    • Prepare Scopes of Work for Engineering Services, support documentation for competitive bidding, and coordinate contract awards.
    • Manage Design Change Requests, including issuing change orders for scope, schedule, or budget changes.
    • Coordinate weekly progress meetings with consultants and internal reviews of designs, estimates, and completed studies.
    • Ensure receipt and proper filing of all project deliverables and conduct regular audits on consultant projects to identify continuous process improvements.

About You

Education:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technologist, or Business.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.

Skills:

  • Manage tasks, timelines, and stakeholders for engineering projects.
  • Act as the primary contact between consultants, plants, and mines.
  • Use Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate to track and report KPIs
  • Understand engineering processes to review proposals and designs
  • Process scopes of work, evaluate proposals, and manage contracts.
  • Ensure deliverables meet standards and are properly documented.
