Jump Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to join the team at O’Neill Auto Group in Mount Pearl, NL.

THE ROLE:
The Senior Accounting Clerk will report to the Assistant Controller and will be a key member of the accounting team. This person will be a detail-oriented professional who is a team player who will contribute to the success of our finance department. Automotive finance experience would be considered an asset. KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
- HST calculations and filing of returns as well as making payments
- Assists (when needed) with the process of new and used vehicles
- Conduct financial audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations
- Monthly HAPSET calculation and payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly flooring interest calculation and payments
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
- Monthly reconciliations and review of schedules
- Assist in preparing year-end audit working papers
- Assist with other accounting functions and duties as needed or on a required basis
- Assists with the training of new as well as current staff
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a senior accounting role
- Automotive experience especially familiarity with CDK or similar would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Strong computer skills including Excel
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
- Demonstrated skill in strategic financial and operational management and long-term planning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team Player with a positive attitude and professional demeanour
