The College is currently seeking dynamic and competent leaders for the position of Instructor, Bricklaying.

Position Type: Term – Part-time up to 18.125 hours/week

Duration: October 2024 to April 2025

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour.

  • Responsibilities

You will collaborate with and report to the Academic Chair of Building and Construction. As a member of the faculty team, you will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Apprenticeship Block Levels 1,2, and 3
  • Basic to Advanced Masonry Techniques
  • Building arches and entryways
  • Patios
  • Stone
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Rigging and Hoisting
  • Anchors, Ties, and Joint Reinforcement
  • Refractory
  • Restoration
  • And other related courses.

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

  • Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • A valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Bricklaying with a Red Seal Certificate.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson level.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching in a blended delivery format in a post-secondary environment.

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Working Knowledge of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
