Auto Mechanic

As a Red Seal Heavy Duty Auto Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to ensure their efficient operation. You will work on various types of vehicles, including trucks, lifts and construction equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems, with an ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner

Duties & Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

• Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings to determine whether to repair or replace the unit
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
• Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed
• Able to work independently or as a team with minimal supervision
• Ability to complete work orders
• Must fully participate in the safety assessment of the job and completion of JSA’s
• Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized workshop.
• Any other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal certification as an Automotive Service Technician or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, equivalent may be considered
• Minimum 5 years of experience and proven technical experience in the heavy equipment or truck repair and maintenance industry
• Proven knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment mechanics, machinery, and tools
• Proficient in troubleshooting
• Capable of safely operating tools and equipment
• Strong ability to follow instructions, adhere to guidelines, and exercise good judgment
• Effective in both team settings and independent work
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
• Committed to adhering to company safety policies and procedures

Physical Demands

• Regularly lifts/moves objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50 lbs are required.
• Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing.
• Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. Ladders/scaffolding).
• Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards.
