Health and Safety Coordinator

This is a full time position at a large established Industrial roofing company in Etobicoke for a Health and Safety Coordinator:
Duties:
• Monitor the overall health and safety program and provide proactive leadership to a large workforce who perform high hazard work.
• Provide field inspection during all seasons and safely navigate roofing project sites which includes ladders and heights.
• Provide reports for activities
• Monitor internal postings and monitor OHS documents and online Application
• Work with a OHS manager on advanced and high level
• Perform incentive program acts
• Perform disciplinary actions such as write ups for OHS infractions
• Gather and organize records
• Monitor and control inventory of PPE and other OHS devices
• Perform new worker orientation
• Assist with COR 2020 and ISO 45001 program compliance.
• Monitor annual goals and objectives.
• Maintain administrative requirements for online vetting programs
• Act as liaison to different people for OHS situations such as Ministry of labour, Site superintendents, inspectors, trainers, labour representatives, visitors contractors.
• Perform immediate response and investigations to incidents and near misses.
Shared duties with OHS manager:
• WSIB status and worker file management.
• Weekly hot work reviews
• Monthly reviews
• Annual reviews of OHS program and management and worker meetings
• Training; internally provided or contracted to supplier
• OHS program development and review
• Annual PPE inspection
• Training and development of the OHS coordinator
• Subcontractor review and onboarding.
Requirements
• Driver’s license, clean
• Professional demeanor
• Strong understanding of OHS legislations, good practices and industry standards.
• Excellent communication skills and presentation abilities
• Physical mobility to safety traverse project sites with ladders, scaffolds, hot materials, and hazardous environments.
• Basic computer operations
• Construction experience
• Reliability
• Ability to work in all outdoor environments for
• Training on Working at heights, Fire extinguishers, WHMIS, Propane, Hot works
Assets and extras
• Professional OHS education, certificates and designations. CRSP, NCSO, ISO auditor training, and Post secondary education in OHS or similar training.
• Multilingual applicants will receive greater consideration and Portuguese and/or Spanish language skill would be a top tier asset.
• Trainer certificates for any and all required program
• Industrial roofing experience
Benefits
• $65,000-75,000 annual salary with yearly performance reviews and increases
• This is a growth position; our goal is to develop a worker into a higher and more qualified Supervisory position with associated remuneration and benefits. Training will be frequent and varied in type and content.
