The Opportunity

  • As a valued member of the Transportation team, you will be responsible for:
  • Administration of the operation and maintenance programs for the Company’s fleet to ensure safety, productivity, regulatory compliance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with auto repair garages and collaborate with various operations groups within Newfoundland Power on all transportation-related matters.
  • Cultivate and manage vendor partnerships to enhance fleet maintenance and procurement activities.
  • Work alongside the Manager of Transportation to create and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for timely vehicle servicing and inspections.
  • Coordinate with repair garages and internal teams to reduce vehicle downtime and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Support various operations teams by addressing transportation-related issues and seamlessly integrating transportation services into daily operations.

Qualifications

  • A diploma in Engineering Technology, a related technical/mechanical discipline, or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Mechanic certification.
  • Fleet maintenance knowledge, especially with heavy equipment vehicles, is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, with demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
  • A valid Class 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement is required or a willingness to obtain.
  • Occasional inter-provincial travel may be necessary.
