ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF SPECIALIST III (BAND LEVEL 8)

(Contractual Position to March 31, 2027)

DUTIES

  • The successful applicant will perform professional work in providing administrative direction to the Department of Chemistry.
  • Duties include advising the Head on a variety of management issues and recommending appropriate courses of action.
  • Coordinating and supervising administrative activities for a large department.
  • Preparing annual budget submissions and maintaining comprehensive records of finance and accounts.
  • Recommending administrative plans and procedures to contribute to the effective management of the Department.
  • Coordinating human resource and labour relations activities including recruitment, job evaluation, payroll, leave management, and collective agreement administration.
  • Developing, recommending, and implementing new systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining considerable contact with officials within the University regarding departmental administrative activities.
  • Supervising staff; performing a variety of administrative staff functions as required.
  • Developing departmental budget for review by the Department Head.
  • Providing financial and administrative recommendations.
  • Preparing annual analytical, financial, and statistical reports.
  • Performing other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience (3-5 years) in progressively responsible administrative positions.
  • An Undergraduate degree in Business is required; or any equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
  • Knowledge of FAST, Banner, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with University policies and procedures are considered assets.

SALARY $63,099 – $86,042 per annum (Management and Professional)

An upscale hiring step will apply to this position (Step 8)
