Maintenance Technician Position

We are seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician position within our Maintenance department. This position will be located in St. Andrews, NB and service facility assets on our Upper and Lower Campuses (https://www.huntsmanmarine.ca/).

The below list is provided as the basic duties of the job. However, related duties to support other activities completed by additional departments may be assigned as they become necessary to meet the mission of the Huntsman Marine. In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Perform facilities maintenance, possibly to include carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work support
  • Conduct interior/exterior building repair, such as cedar shingles siding, roof shingles, doors/windows, toilets/sinks as required
  • Minor maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, back-up generators
  • Maintain and repair equipment within a shop setting
  • Respond to housekeeping maintenance calls, including after hours when on call
  • Complete seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and grounds
  • Ensure all projects and tasks are performed in accordance with established safe work practices and WorksafeNB guidelines
  • Basic computer skills is required, including word processing, email and basic data entry.

Required and beneficial qualification include:

  • Completion of high school or GED
  • Journeyperson license in a relevant field is not required but would be an asset, such as plumbing, electrical or carpentry
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 1-3 years of experience in the building, electrical and/or mechanical occupations while recently retired individuals who have moved into the St. Andrews area will also be considered
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, including personal appearance and grooming, and confidentiality
  • Comply at all times with company standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, analytical ability and innovative thinking
  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license as travel will be required

The position will be offered on a full-time basis and involve regular hours of work on a 37.5-hour work week basis. Additional overtime and weekend work may be required based on specific activities occurring on our campuses. The successful candidate will also be expected to work within an on-call after hours rotation.
