College of Extended Learning
The College of Extended Learning (CEL) is the primary lifelong learning outreach vehicle for the University and carries critical community-building and revenue-generation functions. CEL is an educational entrepreneurial unit of UNB that contributes to the economic, social, and cultural life of the province by providing educational programs and services to a wide spectrum of learners within New Brunswick and beyond its borders. Four programming units and three core services units comprise CEL.

Salary Range: $22.68 – 26.33 per hour

YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Supervisor of Client Services, the Secretary PL4 (Client Services Representative) acts as the first point of contact for clients and other members of the public and University community for CEL. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide clients with accurate information, registration, and fee payment services for the wide variety of programs and courses offered. On a weekly basis, the incumbent handles hundreds of client interactions (providing information, course registration and fee payments) in person, by phone and electronically.

  • Provide customer service to students and other members of the public and university community by telephone, e-mail, and at the reception counter in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner.
  • Provide personalized, timely, and accurate responses on a wide variety of programs and course offerings.
  • Carry out financial transactions, such as payment of fees, with a high degree of accuracy and responsibility.
  • Reconcile payments daily and/or student balances.
  • Provide accurate data input to the student systems for registration and record updates.
  • Carry out regular filing duties for college filing system.
  • Provide administrative support services for CEL staff as required and approved by supervisor.
  • Operate all standard office equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary Education in Business Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Client Services or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • A University Degree in Business Administration or a related field is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with Colleague platform would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating discretion.
  • Ability to navigate situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills and orientation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Bilingual English and French would be considered an asset.
