Description:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Student Transportation, the Transportation Clerk provides support in ensuring the timely provision of safe, reliable and cost effective alternate and contracted transportation services in all regions of NLSchools.
Duties:
- Development, issuance and awarding of transportation tenders and alternate student transportation services as well as administration of related contracts;
- Processing contract amendments and extensions as required;
- Development and maintenance of a database regarding contracts/contractors, routes, vehicles, etc,;
- Processing monthly and daily invoices received from contractors;
- Annual evaluation of alternate transportation procurement requirements and completion of related renewal documents (in conjunction with Student Support Services and officials of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development);
- Coordinating regularly with parents/guardians, transportation contractors, and government officials regarding Student Transportation matters; preparing reports and other information as required;
- Responding to public inquiries pertaining to student transportation services;
- Maintaining detailed and accurate confidential files related to student transportation;
- Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
Completion of a 2-year Business Administration program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Other Requirements:
The successful candidate will have experience working in a complex and fast paced environment. Applicants must have experience in public sector procurement standards, practices and the Public Procurement Act. The successful candidate requires strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative and work independently.
The successful candidate must have excellent knowledge of computerized software and applications including Email, Microsoft Word & Excel as well as database systems. An understanding of the challenges and needs unique to alternate transportation is also an asset.
