Payroll Administrator

Steele Auto Group has an immediate requirement for a Payroll Administrator to join our Head Office team in Dartmouth, NS! This opportunity offers a hybrid work model within the HRM.

The Payroll Administrator plays a pivotal role within our organization and is responsible for full-cycle payroll processing, payroll compliance, and employee recordkeeping. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, a strong grasp of payroll regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

Wage commensurate with skills and experience.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage payroll processing schedule and ensure deadlines are met
  • Run payroll processing activities and execute interfaces
  • Reconcile payroll results and perform audit checks
  • Follow proper procedures for payroll sign off/approval.
  • Run monthly/quarterly reports
  • Conduct quarterly balancing of year end totals, including researching and resolving PIER
  • Conduct year end balancing and filings
  • Update processing documentation as needed
  • Act as day-to-day liaison with dealership designated contacts for payroll-related processing.
  • Timely review and resolution of issues
  • Highlight and escalate relevant matters that may impact running the payrolls
  • Process relevant tax forms for employees
  • Participate in testing and validation as required for product updates, configuration changes
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and expertise in statutory legislation, and systems
  • Process Journal entries and forms such as ROE, tax forms, remittances.
  • Assist in the administration of employee programs (ie. Health benefit, RSP)
  • Keeping employee profile data up to date

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education with a focus on accounting.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role.
  • PCP designation would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Office, with an intermediate focus on Excel.
  • UKG experience would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of year-end processing required for all provinces
  • Able to work under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met
