Cleveland Design is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our team!
Cleveland Design is always looking to add talented Sheet Metal Fabricators / car builders to our team. Applicants should have solid TIG welding skills, metal shaping experience, and familiarity with the general fabrication tasks associated with building custom vehicles.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Licensed or certified Technician
• Experience as an Autobody Technician
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide an acceptable driver abstract
Responsibilities:
- Design, cut, shape, and form sheet metal to create custom body panels, components, and parts for classic and custom vehicles.
- Modify and fit pre-existing parts to ensure precise alignment and aesthetic appeal.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding to assemble and secure metal components.
- Ensure all welds meet structural integrity and aesthetic standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings to accurately fabricate custom parts.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to refine and improve designs for manufacturability.
- Smooth and finish metal surfaces, ensuring they are ready for paint and other finishing processes.
- Use hand tools, grinders, and other equipment to remove imperfections and create a polished finish.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the shop’s high standards for quality and craftsmanship.
- Perform adjustments and corrections as needed to achieve perfect fitment and finish.
- Take part in unique and complex custom builds, contributing expertise in metal fabrication to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.
- Innovate new techniques or solutions to achieve custom design goals.
- Work closely with other fabricators, mechanics, painters, and designers to ensure smooth workflow and project timelines.
- Facial hair will interfere with the ability to achieve a proper seal on CSA-approved respirators; therefore, it is a requirement that staff must be clean-shaven. If you are unable to maintain a clean shave where the respirator seals to the face for any reason, please inform us in the form of a request for accommodation.
