Suisha Gardens is one of the largest Japanese restaurants in Canada. We are located at 5701 Lewis Ave, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 3R8.
Suisha Gardens is looking to hire a Traditional Japanese Chef. This is a full time, permanent position for $28.39 per hour for 30 hours a week. Must possess a secondary school diploma and food handlers certificate as well as minimum of 5 years of experience.
Job duties are described below:
• Required to cook a variety of Japanese traditional foods; such as bento boxes (Japanese box lunch), sushi, ramen, udon, and traditional appetizers and sides
• Prepare all types of Japanese food including soups, sauces, variety of fish, meats, and vegetables
• Supervise kitchen staff and helpers in their duties, and handling of Japanese food
• They must have knowledge of health and safety procedures relating to food preparation and kitchen safety
• Required to cook Teppanyaki style with emphasis on entertaining the customers, that come as families, or large parties
• The chef should toss their cooking tools like spatula and fork and start fires safely.
• Teppanyaki is an art that takes many years to be able to perform safely without harm to customers
• Each teppanyaki table hold 8-10 customers with the chef cooking in front of the customer on a hot iron grill
• Ensure the Teppanyaki tables and main kitchen are clean and safe for food preparation in accordance with the company health and safety guidelines
• Chef should have an outgoing personality for entertaining customers
• Chef must have excellent customer service skills
• The ability to communicate fluently in Japanese is an asset as the restaurant frequently has Japanese tour groups with guests that speak only Japanese and we offer a menu in the Japanese language.
