MMW Law Professional Corporation, a Real estate, Commercial, Immigration and litigation law office, is seeking a junior-intermediate real estate legal assistant with experience/knowledge of commercial business transactions to complement their expanding real estate & Commercial law team.
The Successful Candidate must:
• Have a minimum of 2-4 years experience in a small to medium sized law firm with a focus in Residential, Commercial (real estate & Business) and Mortgage transactions.
• Be experienced in PC Law, Conveyancer and Teraview software programs
• Independently perform all tasks related to the purchase, sale and mortgage of residential/commercial real estate properties as well as assisting with closing transactions;
• Will assist with title searches / off-title searches and ordering Title Insurance policies under the supervision of a lawyer;
• Prepare final reports of property transactions to clients and financial institutions and accounts to clients;
• Have thorough knowledge of legal procedures, statutes and regulations applicable to residential and commercial real estate and commercial business transactions;
• Be able to manage files from start to finish, to multitask and meet deadlines;
• Be able to work with clients directly in a professional manner and with minimal supervision on daily basis, good telephone etiquette is essential;
• New files – arrange initial conferences with clients if needed; diarize file transactions priority, maintain effective communication with clients such as keep client informed, etc.;
• Have excellent organizational, communication and written skills and attention to detail;
• Maintain commitment to privacy and ethical conduct;
• Completed all administrative functions with accuracy and in a timely manner
• Communicate regularly with clients through phone, mail, and electronic regarding their transactions, in-house promotions and follow-up, etc.
• Experience in Civil Litigation procedure, drafting, scheduling, and court forms as well as communication with court is an asset.
• Applicant must be open and willing to perform ancillary duties as requested;
• Applicant must be able to multitask, take initiative and work within a team environment;
• Applicant must have experience and knowledge of Social Media;
• Qualification/certification/post secondary diploma from an accredited law clerk, legal assistant or paralegal or related program is an asset.
Office hours- are primarily from 9a.m.-5p.m. Applicant maybe asked to work outside of normal office hours from time to time and as volume may demand.
