• Temporary Full-Time Maintenance II Worker
• Seaview Manor is a compassionate provider of resident centered continuing care serving primarily Zone 3 of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. We are located on the scenic coast of Glace Bay, just 20 minutes from Sydney. We are committed to providing an optimal quality of life for our residents and provide individuals a full scope of programs and services through a safe, nurturing, and caring environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma
• Designated trade in carpentry, plumbing or electrical.
• Proof of any online or industry related courses/certifications.
• Vulnerable Sector/Criminal record check.
• Valid drivers license with a clean record.
• Knowledge and demonstrated skill in basic electrical work, general and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in plumbing and pipe fitting, basic carpentry, painting, and dry wall repairs.
• Ability to operate shop tools and power equipment, as well as small tractor, snow blower and motorized lawn care equipment.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Act (Occupational Health & Safety)

Performance Requirements

• Must be flexible to workdays, evenings, or nights.
• Must be available to pick up additional shifts and 24-hour emergency callouts.
• Work under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services.
• Responsible to maintain the building, equipment, and property including general and emergency maintenance and repairs.
• Responsible for the Preventative Maintenance Program to reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and safety issues.
• Understand the building operations and mechanical systems. (Heating, cooling, water, alarm system) to identify and arrange for service or repair.
• Applicants must demonstrate job stability as evidenced by maintaining a good attendance record. They must be a team player, collaborating with other members of the Maintenance team.
