The opportunity:

Dr. J. Chan and Dr. M. Flood, Orthopaedic Surgeons, located in Fredericton, NB are looking for a permanent full-time medical office administrator to join their team.

This opportunity is meant for an individual who has experience working as a medical office administrator within a specialty health care setting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates patient care through the clinic: checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, and preparing exam rooms for the next patient.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately.
  • Answers inquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful and efficient manner.
  • Manages and maintains appointment schedule.
  • Manages incoming/outgoing communications.
  • Manages and processes patient referrals.
  • Maintains electronic medical record via EMR software.
  • Processes faxes electronically.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Cleans and sterilizes materials and instruments, as required.
  • Coordinates with hospital staff for scheduling of operating room activity.
  • Performs billing procedures and collects non-insured fees where applicable.
  • Orders and receives office and medical supplies.
  • Prepares and processes clinic mail.
  • Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks as required.

Working Conditions & Location:

The medical office administrator position requires availability to work on-site from Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day (excluding evenings, weekends, and STAT holidays).

The team within the clinic consists of a total of 6 orthopedic surgeons and their respective support staff. The clinic is located at 1113 Regent St, Fredericton, NB.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with a computer (including using the internet, electronic medical record, and MS Office software).
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient individual.
  • Self-motivated individual who has the ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Innovative and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to maintain a discrete and confidential environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingualism is an asset (English and French).

Experience/Education:

  • 2 years of experience as a medical office admin within a medical specialty.
  • Medical office admin diploma (or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • General knowledge of the New Brunswick medical system is an asset.
