Join an exciting and fast paced national furniture retail, wholesale and auction enterprise with multiple locations and customers worldwide. Working out of our Vancouver head office, the successful candidate would be responsible for all aspects of the accounting department. Starting with training alongside our existing bookkeeper of 10 years, this position would provide support in all accounting duties and expand responsibilities over time.

Job Overview:

– The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a retail store with multiple locations. This role involves managing payroll, filing taxes, and performing reconciliations, along with other bookkeeping tasks. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of both BC and federal payroll regulations, GST/PST rules, and be proficient in QuickBooks Online. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Payroll Management:
– Process payroll for approximately 25 employees.
– Ensure compliance with BC and federal payroll regulations.
– Pay PD7A on time and reconcile with the CRA website.

2) Tax Filing:
– File GST and PST accurately and on time.
– Stay up-to-date with GST and PST rules and regulations.

3) Bank Reconciliation:
– Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
– Reconcile company’s books with the CRA website.

4) Accounts Payable & Receivable:
– Enter bills and invoices into QuickBooks Online.
– Record bill payments and invoice receivables.
– Reconcile end-of-day point of sale (POS) machine batches with bank deposits.

5) Communication & Collaboration:
– Communicate effectively and constructively with store managers and other staff.
– Collaborate with an external CPA controller on financial matters.
– Provide financial reports and updates to management as required.

6) Software & Technical Skills:
– Proficient in QuickBooks Online with at least 3 years of experience.
– Familiarity with retail store POS systems and their reconciliation processes.

7) Additional Responsibilities:
– Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
– Assist with financial audits as needed.
– Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data.
– Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
– Manage petty cash and track expenses.

Requirements:

Experience:
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, specifically using QuickBooks Online.
– Experience working in a retail environment, understanding POS systems, and reconciliation processes.

Skills:
– Strong understanding of BC and federal payroll regulations.
– Knowledge of GST and PST filing requirements.
– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
– Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic.

Education:
– Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field (preferred).

Full time starting end of September. $28hr to start.
