Position: Construction Surveyor

Howard Little Excavating Ltd. is a locally owned Annapolis Valley company that has continued to grow over the past 45 years. We specialize in sewer, water and road construction as well as excavation for residential, commercial and industrial buildings covering Kings, Annapolis and Hants Counties. Responsibilities:

• Coordinating and laying out various aspects for the construction project.
• High level of accuracy
• Collecting data for as-builds and red-line drawings
• Estimation process for various civil projects

Qualifications:

• Skilled in the use of GPS / RTK equipment
• 3 years experience in party chief role.
• Proficient with construction staking / grade staking.
• Data collection for as-builts.
• Topographic surveys
• Experience with Trimble survey equipment will be considered an asset
• Experience calculating volumes with Carlson or AutoCAD
• Managing machine control equipment, creating files, calibrating, basic troubleshooting of equipment
• Experience with MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• 2-year diploma in Geomatics Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil construction industry
• Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills
• Candidate should have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• The motivated candidate should be able to equally perform alone and in a team environment
• Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in civil or surveying related fields
