Asphalt Plant Operator Assistant

Howard E. Little Excavating Ltd. is a locally owned Annapolis Valley company that has continued to grow over the past 45 years. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team. Responsibilities: (willing to learn under the guidance of the plant operator)
• Produce asphalt using computerized equipment that produces an accurate mix of quality
product.
• Regularly examine materials, ingredients, or products to ensure compliance to established
standards
• Check inventory control of raw materials additives and/or specialized and notify management
of product requirements
• Implement daily/weekly/ monthly plant inspections
• Responsible for compliance with applicable environmental regulations as they relate to the
proper operation of plant equipment.
• Daily inspection of facilities, complete maintenance checklist and order parts needed for
repairs/maintenance to plant.
• Daily tasks such as plant maintenance and cleaning and ensuring a safe work environment
• Report any issues/concerns to management

Qualifications:
• Have a minimum of 3 – 5 years work experience operating an asphalt plant or assisting with plant operation
• Possess mechanical knowledge and experience in bearing replacement and equipment
functionality
• Have computer knowledge/skills as it relates to operating asphalt production equipment.
• Have experience operating a front-end loader
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Have mechanical knowledge for general plant maintenance
• Maintain good housekeeping practices
• Be able to work independently in a busy work environment
• Be in good physical condition and able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. sit and stand for
extended periods of time
• Have the ability to work extended hours as required
• Have a valid Class driver’s license.
• WHMIS & First Aid Training is required
