Antigonish Community Transit Society
Antigonish Community Transit Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization providing transit services for Antigonish town and county. Established in October 2013, ACTS operates a fixed bus route, and a book-a-ride door-to-door service. Our services are available to anyone needing access to transit service.
ACTS is currently seeking a General Manager. This exciting opportunity is available starting immediately.
Rate of Pay
- Annual Salary: $50,000 to $55,000
Job Overview
The General Manager reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors and is responsible for all day-to-day operations of ACTS. This includes managing staff, assets, and operations such as dispatch, information, and public relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor receivables, payables, and provide financial statements.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage ACTS staff and drivers.
- Deploy and utilize resources effectively.
- Maintain public relations with clients, stakeholders, and partners.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and accessibility standards.
- Complete and submit required government reports.
- Develop and distribute public information and promotional material.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Board.
Qualifications
- Experience
- 2 years post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with accounting and payroll software
- Basic bookkeeping/accounting knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in project or program delivery.
- Assets
- Experience with non-profits and Boards of Directors
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with government and grant applications
- Understanding of community transit and promotion
- Experience dealing with the public.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technology.
- Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license
- Criminal record and vulnerable sectors check
