Salary Range: $53,300 to $68,428 per annum

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Fire Services Coordinator, the group responsible for delivering contract training to volunteer fire departments in New Brunswick, this role assists the Fire Services Co-Ordinator in providing fire service training in New Brunswick and ensures the curriculum is available in both official languages, up to date, and reflects New Brunswick’s regulations and environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct a review of the curriculum annually to ensure that the translation provided by our consultant matches intended outcomes and is valid for New Brunswick.
  • Monitor regulations and standards to ensure the changes are reflected in the curriculum.
  • Provide orientation to new fire service instructors on curriculum materials/activities and all instructors on updates to the curriculum.
  • Assist in preparing learning materials, training props, and the Fire Services training site for the firefighters and instructors.
  • Ensure the accurate translation of all programs, courses, and related documents within the Fire Services division, maintaining clarity and consistency across all materials.
  • Prepare Fire Service Training grounds for use in certification testing or when requested by departments.
  • Inform the Fire Service Coordinator of any repairs or equipment needed for Fire Service Training grounds or mobile props.
  • Keep an inventory of the Fire Services equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Fire Services Coordinator.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree with related years of work experience.
  • Certification in Fire Service Instructor 1, Firefighter 1.
  • Preference will be given to those with five years of experience in Fire Fighting.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English and French (French being an asset as we translate from English to French predominantly) and experience in translating documents.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, PowerPoint, teams, etc.)

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities when encountering conflicting demands.
  • Ability to effectively work with and provide information, assistance, and related services to the public, faculty, staff, and students tactfully, pleasantly, and helpful.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team–working harmoniously with others
  • Ability to accurately enter information into software databases.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgement and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, fulfilling the demands of the position at peak periods.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
