DEPARTMENT OF NURSING & HEALTH SCIENCES
The Department of Nursing and Health Sciences offers Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Health Science degrees. It offers 4 paths to complete a Bachelor of Nursing degree: a 3-year BN (3-terms /year), a 4-year BN (2 terms /year), an LPN Bridge program and an LPN Bridge work/study program. It has 28 faculty members with clinical and research expertise in a variety of nursing specialities, including acute care, community, maternal/child, and geriatrics. Its Bachelor of Health Sciences degree is offered in the areas of respiratory therapy and radiography in collaboration with these specialty educational partners.

Salary Range: $53,023 – $68,960 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting the Chair, Nursing & Health Sciences (SASE), the Program Coordinator primarily focuses on the term-to-term operational tasks for the various programs administered by the department.
- Advise courses and register all current, new and returning students in relevant departmental programs.
- Coordinate with the Lead faculty involving students with admission, transfer or progression issues.
- Organize and conduct advising sessions from individual appointments to larger group advising.
- Organize and represent department at student orientation activities and information sessions, as needed.
- Work closely with the Registrar’s office on advising and enrollment issues.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and partner contacts to facilitate the organization of clinical practice experiences.
- Partner with instructors to create groups and schedules for active clinical courses
- Use Horizon Education Placement Portal (HEPP) to onboard students and instructors.
- Coordinate critical document process to ensure all students meets clinical attendance requirements
- Arrange annual Allscripts training for students entering Year 2 or Year 3 (LPNS).
- Develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies and outreach activities in collaboration with relevant partners.
- Manage the list of student contact and placement information.
- Provide a monthly report outlining updates on progress, goals, plus current numbers of students in each nursing program year.
- Provide support for accreditation process.
- Oversee MOUs for BHS and clinical partners.
- Manage the BHS competitive major application process.
- Update and maintain department website and social media presence, as well as various relevant Teams pages.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Undergraduate degree in a related field.
- 3 years of related experience in student advising and program support responsibilities is preferred.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Working within post-secondary academic systems and regulations would be an asset.
- Experience in communications would be an asset. Excellent communication, both written and oral.
- Experience organizing and executing events.
- Critical thinking skills to keep up with complex and fast-moving environment.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills, with knowledge of MS office products and social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage competing work demands.
- Ability to work independently and without supervision, and to use independent judgement to make decisions.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team.
