The University of New Brunswick REDS are the non-academic unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology. Through athletics and recreation programming, they strive to be national leaders in wellness, sport, and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.

Standard Work Hours: Mon – Fri | 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm | 40 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally required to work evenings and weekends for special events.

Salary Rate: $25.29 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Assistant Director of REDS Operations, the Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of three service facilities including gymnasiums, fields, classrooms, studios, storage areas, service spaces and other areas. The Facilities Coordinator manages a large number of students and part-time workers. This position determines work methods and approaches, maintains records and trains staff in a wide range of specialized skills related to administration, inventory control, building security/integrity, safety, and emergency procedures.

  • Supervise and direct the work of part-time staff.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule all part-time setup and termination of employment.
  • Complete proposed and actual estimates for setup and takedown staff and forward them to the Event Manager.
  • Liaise with coaches, facilities users, and service providers, to ensure that spaces and equipment are set up and functioning properly.
  • Inspect buildings and property regularly.
  • Track equipment and supply inventory daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Monitor facility access control into the Currie Center and spaces within the building.
  • Set up/tear down and maintain courts and sports equipment.
  • Lead large set-ups collaborating with the Director and Assistant Director (Graduations, Exam set up, FSI Auction, Concert Venues, Conferences etc.)
  • Attend meetings in advance of events with the Director, Assistant Director, Event Manager and AV support.
  • Work and communicate with various UNB departments.
  • Identify staffing gaps, fill staff demands as necessary, and anticipate potential staffing problems.
  • Oversee transport of equipment between Kinesiology facilities. Ensure equipment arrives and returns when needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary Education in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience with staff supervision and management.
  • An equivalent amount of training and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Current First Aid and AED certification is considered an asset.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of court sports – basketball and volleyball.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and repair sporting equipment, courts, and tools.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with rules and procedures followed in a wide variety of games and sports.
