Safety and Compliance Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join our transportation team. This role is vital to ensuring the safety of our drivers and compliance with all federal and provincial regulations. The Safety and Compliance Coordinator will provide ongoing driver and dispatch support, maintaining compliance of industry regulations, insurance policies and organizational standards. Responsibilities:

· Maintain thorough knowledge of all MTO Rules and FMCSA and Regulations regarding driving and driver responsibilities.

· Audit driver logs and provide re-training or discipline where necessary.

· Conduct regular safety meetings with all drivers and owner-operators, focusing on training development to enhance awareness and compliance.

· Follow accident procedures, file claims with insurance, and follow up on ongoing claims. Review and follow up with all traffic tickets, warnings, convictions, or accidents.

· Assist in fleet management and transportation logistics.

· Stay current with all federal and provincial safety regulations.

· Onboard new drivers, ensuring all contracts are signed, reviewed, and filed.

· Maintain all owner-operator safety and inspection records.

· Process all MTO and IRP plate renewals for drivers and owner-operators.

· Complete maintenance and repair records as required.

· Perform regular audits of driver qualification files to ensure FMCSR and DOT compliance.

· Provide management with regular reports on safety functions, including accidents, claims, violations, and overall safety trends.

· Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.

· Monitor safety trends and issues impacting the company’s profitability or statistics.

Job Requirements:

· Safety and compliance experience relative to the transportation industry.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong time management and ability to prioritize work.

· Comfortable with new software and interfaces.

· Strong follow-up skills.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to problem solve in a hectic work environment and display high decisiveness and memory usage.

· Knowledge of Hours of Service for drivers, MTO and FMCSA regulations is considered an asset.
