Classification: Full-Time NSGEU, Level 6 Position

Salary: $41,636 [Step Progression: $41,636 to $49,719]

Responsibilities

  • The Administrative and Events Assistant (AA) for the Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies and Alexa McDonough Institute for Women will collaborate closely with, and provide vital logistical and administrative function to, the Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies and the AMI Chair.
  • The AA is responsible for an array of duties and responsibilities, which may include: event logistics, multi-faceted administrative tasks, budget monitoring/management, correspondence and report creation, project/event coordination, digital/information management, website/SharePoint administration, and liaising with internal-external partners, each in aggregation with the two aforementioned parties.
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned as required. Recognizing that some flexibility will be necessary, the position of AA is shared amongst the entities of Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies (30%), AMI (40%), and Events Coordination for both offices (30%).
  • The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Dean of Arts and Science and works closely with the Nancy’s Chair and AMI Chair and Manager.
  • The AA may act as the point of contact for AMI- and Nancy’s Chair-related inquires during events/times for which the AMI Chair and Nancy’s Chair are unavailable.

Qualifications

  • A two-year community college diploma in Business Administration or equivalent, and a minimum of two years’ experience are required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • You are a motivated team player and independent thinker, with excellent writing skills and an ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable managing multiple requests, meeting deadlines and have demonstrated problem solving/analytical abilities.
  • You have demonstrated experience with event logistics, multi-faceted administrative tasks, budget monitoring/management, correspondence and report creation, project/event coordination, digital/information management, website/SharePoint administration.
  • You are also committed to continuous process improvement and you are results-oriented.
  • Socio-cultural sensitivity is a must, and previous experience working in an academic environment is considered an asset.
  • Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (365), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
