ORGANIZATION INFORMATION

The Forestry Sector Council is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing a skilled and professional workforce for Nova Scotia’s forest industry. We collaborate with partners to identify and solve labour challenges. Our strategic priorities are talent attraction and retention, skill development, and human resource planning. We are cultivating a workforce like our forests-sustainable, diverse, and growing.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Administrative Coordinator will work with FSCFORSEC’s growing team to create and maintain a positive and professional organizational presence in an emerging organization. This role will build and lead all administrative support, ensuring the efficient operation of the office and effective project management. The work done by the Administrative Coordinator will engage members and stakeholders, ultimately serving industry employers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle daily office tasks such as scheduling, correspondence, and filing to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain and update AMS/CRM database, generating necessary reports.
  • Organize meetings, events, and activities, and manage communication through email, phone, and social media.
  • Design, write, and distribute monthly newsletters that engage and inform our audience.
  • Support the planning and execution of various projects, keeping track of progress and deadlines.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues to enhance office efficiency.
  • Deliver outstanding service to members and stakeholders by addressing needs promptly.
  • Assist with creating and distributing marketing materials.
  • Ensure office facilities and equipment are well-maintained.
  • Identify areas for improvement and suggest effective solutions.
  • Contribute to the team by taking on additional relevant duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have a combination of relevant education and work experience. They must have a minimum college diploma (in administration, business, marketing, communications, or commerce) and 3 years of comparable work experience.

This position requires balancing multiple priorities with strong communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy. Experienced administrative, technical, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Outstanding attention to detail with a strong sense of initiative and follow-through.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates proven experience building relationships with a similar audience.
  • Demonstrates proven organizational, planning, prioritizing, and time management skills.
  • A self-starter who exercises good judgment.
  • Proficiency with computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office 365 Suite and the ability to learn custom CRM/AMS
  • Forestry industry knowledge is an asset.
  • Familiarity with workforce development and the labour market is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with community engagement, outreach and marketing strategies is considered an asset.
