Lead Hydro Plant Operator

Status: Permanent

Location: Bay d’Espoir ­

You will be responsible to operate and perform regular inspections of generation, transmission and distribution facilities and identify and report on any deficiencies.­ You will issue work clearance and prepare, check, and when necessary carry out switching orders. You will also be responsible to perform trend monitoring on generating equipment, prepare daily production reports, maintain the station log and complete reports on plant operations and anomalies.­ All other duties related to or associated with this classification.

­You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company’s Safety and Health Program and responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

You have graduated high school supplemented with a journeyperson certificate as a Power System Operator through the Corporation’s Apprenticeship program. Must possess two (2) years experience operating in a multi-unit hydro plant of at least 450mw. ­You have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules and must possess an appropriate valid driver’s license.
