Are you a compassionate and experienced caregiver with a passion for young children? Our family is seeking a reliable and dedicated nanny to join our team on a full-time basis. As a live-in or live-out nanny, you will be responsible for providing care to our 3 children (3.5 daughter and 1 year old twin boys) as well as assisting with light housekeeping, meal preparation and ensuring the household runs smoothly.
This person will be kind, loving, act as a leader, have great attention to detail and positive energy. Overall duties include running the household in collaboration with the parents. Our Nannies most important responsibility is caring for the children, followed by keeping the house and its processes well organized and tidy, some meal preparation and the occasional special projects.

Regular schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with flexibility). Extended hours, nights, and weekends may be required, however they will be planned and agreed upon in advance. These extra hours will be paid or given as time in lieu.

Responsibilities:

1) Caring for our three young children: which includes, but is not limited to: waking them, dressing them for the day, preparing meals, feeding them, changing diapers, putting them down for a nap, soothing and comforting them, helping them use the toilet, playing games and doing other age-appropriate activities throughout the day, keeping them clean and tidy. Driving them to and from scheduled activities during the week. Most importantly, respecting them as individuals and ensuring their health and safety while in your presence. It’s important they feel safe and loved in your presence.

2) Lighthouse work: keeping the home tidy and organized throughout the day. Cleaning up after each meal, empty and fill the dishwasher, putting dishes away in their place, occasionally helping with the kid’s laundry, clean up after kids indoor play activities, tidying, put toys away, clearing and wiping counters, keeping things where they belong.

3) Meal Preparation: a few times a week we expect our Nanny to start a meal.

4) Other: Our Nanny may be required to put groceries away, run the errands, help sort toys and clothes for donation as a special project.

We expect our Nanny to be able to fo the following:
– Be well organized. Multi-tasker able to make progress and complete multiple projects.
– Experience working with children of young ages, training in this area would be an asset.
– Ability to plan, prepare, and execute daily age-appropriate fun and educational activities for the kids.
– Great communication.
– Understands age-appropriate activities and what is safe or unsafe for children (ie do not take children outside when it’s very cold, do not leave children unattended or alone)
– Willing to take children on outings to local places such as Science Centre, Museum, play center, library story time etc.
– Able to plan and prepare appropriate snacks and meals for kids
– Understand and follow general food safety guidelines such as keeping hands sterilized, washing produce thoroughly, keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
– Cleaning up after the children, including meals and playtime.
– Keeping home tidy – putting toys away, clearing and wiping counters, keeping clothes/coats/shoes where they belong
– Empty and fill dish washer
– Values daily movement and being outside.
– CPR certification
– Can engage in physical activities with the children, such as running outside, playing at the park, going on walks etc.
– Physically strong enough to hold at least one child at a time.
– Valid drivers license and clean driving record
– Can drive the kids around town and on Canadian highways with a high degree of safety
– Comfortable driving in snow
– Understands car seat safety etc
– Does not text and drive
– High emotional intelligence. Can influence the children positively in many areas including self-soothing, self-discipline ,organization, conflict resolution, perseverance
– Treats the children with love and respect
– Does not physically discipline them, any conflict should be resolved verbally.
– You are someone the kids can trust, respect and count on to provide for their needs in the absence of the parents.
– Highly engaged with the children. Great attitude. Not distracted with personal issues.
– Not on phone when at work.
– Energy to be a positive addition to the household.
– Has appropriate boundaries in relationships and interactions and will teach the children the same including appropriate privacy and safety
