Construction Estimator/Project Manager

Permanent, full time, experienced Construction Estimator/Project Manager wanted for a diverse variety of commercial and residential renovations and new construction. Time to be split between two roles as required working on mostly local construction projects from small work orders and residential renovations up to $5 million projects. Cornerstone General Contracting Ltd. is an established, well-organized and steadily growing Nelson, BC based company that values our reputation, and maintains excellent relations with crew, clients and industry contacts. The ideal candidate should have 3 years previous experience in estimating and project management for residential and commercial projects.
Preferred Prerequisites/Experience:
• Experience and strong understanding of construction techniques and process from working on construction sites or in the trades
• Strong computer experience incl. with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google programs, estimating and project management software
• Able to read architectural and other plans or scopes of work
• 3 years experience in estimating/project management with a construction company
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and efficient time management and attention to detail
• Reliable and punctual
• Strong work ethic
• Familiar working in a collaborative and positive environment
• Good organizational skills to track and meet deadlines
• Reliable transportation/driver’s licence
• Criminal Record Check and confidentiality agreement will be required

Responsibilities:
• Work/collaborate with three other estimators/project managers in similar dynamic roles.
• Review new and approved projects, attend site visits and document conditions, interact with clients/subcontractors/crew, evaluate and complete cost estimates/budgets and competitive fixed price quotes
• Manage bid pricing from subcontractors/suppliers to meet deadlines
• Provide construction schedules, process shop dwgs., research materials, equipment and labour costs
• Lead project start up and recurring meetings, provide agendas, document/distribute meeting minutes
• Understand client objectives regarding quality/levels of finish vs. time or budget restrictions
• Manage Worksafe BC and other client safety related start up forms and documents.
• Contract management including project tracking of purchase orders, change directives, change orders, work orders, and project close out documents.
• Maintain and establish new excellent working relationships with industry contacts, registered professionals, subcontractors, suppliers, and crew.

Compensation:
Wage based on experience. Extended health and benefits available after 3 months. Stat. holidays, vacation pay, overtime paid when required, work with a professional, supportive and respected crew, flexibility with time off.
