Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • Provide lab/shop, program and administrative support to three programs in the Culinary and Tourism cluster (Baking and Pastry Arts/Culinary Management/Tourism Hospitality).
  • Assist Faculty with the preparation, dismantling and cleanup of labs/shop demonstrations and events (internal and external).
  • Support program readiness by assisting Faculty with thorough cleaning and maintenance of the lab/shop and maintain a safe work environment in all areas where students and staff are working.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance procedures are carried out on equipment.
  • Ensure lab/shop safety compliance and quality control requirements are met by following safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain inventory control in the labs/shops as well as the timely ordering of materials to meet curriculum requirements, including procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with all staff and provide effective customer service for all users of the lab/shop.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a certification as Red Seal Cook or Red Seal Baker. Education related to tourism would be considered an asset.
  • You possess the Food Handler’s course and have training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety as well as Standard First Aid, CPR and discipline relevant safety training or you have a willingness to obtain within the first year.
  • You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the culinary/tourism sector
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail and Sharepoint. Experience with Brightspace (or other Learning Management System) would be considered an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
  • Experience in training/facilitation, workshop preparation and delivery would be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
