Our client is North America’s leading maker of salads and fresh food products. They are seeking a Class B Refrigeration Technician to join their team. As a Refrigeration Technician you will be directly responsible for the care and maintenance of the facility boilers, Ammonia/Freon refrigeration units and rooftop HVAC units and performing other duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
 
 
Job Title: Class B Refrigeration Technician
Location: Vaughan, ON
Pay Range: $38 per hour
 
What’s the Job?

  • Ensures compliance with TSSA and all other governing bodies regulations and guidelines.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance and inspections, on but not limited to boiler systems, refrigeration, HVAC, fuel, water treatment, compressed air systems, auxiliaries and distribution systems, housekeeping throughout plant.
  • Installs mechanical systems throughout the plant and assist other Maintenance staff.
  • Checks and Adjusts (calibrates) heating/cooling systems, glycol chiller plant, humidification, air handling equipment, hot water systems, repair high pressure hoses and pumps.
  • Maintains repairs, troubleshoots electrical problem, routine preventive maintenance, install and repair water/drainage piping, compressed air piping repairs.
  • Checks and tests for leaks, sets and adjusts controls and regulators and checks operating adjustments as required.
  • Checks and replaces mechanical components and controls.
  • Monitor and records flow rates, pressures and temperatures within specific cold chain parameters.
  • Ensure proper use and storage of approved chemicals.
  • Follows GMP rules and GMP for Maintenance rules while performing repairs and PM tasks
  • Ensures temporary repairs are done in a manner that does not create potential food safety hazards
  • Informs Sanitation or Production when repairs are completed so that proper sanitation of surfaces can be completed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 
What’s Needed?
 

  • Must hold a Refrigeration Class B ticket in good standing with the T.S.S.A. with 2-3 years of work experience in a food processing environment
  • Practical knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heating and cooling systems
  • Strong knowledge and experience maintaining and trouble-shooting refrigeration equipment (ammonia/freon)
  • Experience working with SOPs/GMPs is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
