Jump Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to join the team at O’Neill Auto Group in Mount Pearl, NL.

THE ROLE:

The Senior Accounting Clerk will report to the Assistant Controller and will be a key member of the accounting team. This person will be a detail-oriented professional who is a team player who will contribute to the success of our finance department. Automotive finance experience would be considered an asset. KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • HST calculations and filing of returns as well as making payments
  • Assists (when needed) with the process of new and used vehicles
  • Conduct financial audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Monthly HAPSET calculation and payments
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly flooring interest calculation and payments
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
  • Monthly reconciliations and review of schedules
  • Assist in preparing year-end audit working papers
  • Assist with other accounting functions and duties as needed or on a required basis
  • Assists with the training of new as well as current staff

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a senior accounting role
  • Automotive experience especially familiarity with CDK or similar would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills including Excel
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated skill in strategic financial and operational management and long-term planning
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team Player with a positive attitude and professional demeanour
