Job Description:Job Description Accounting Clerk ADepartment: EWSWA AdministrationLocation: Essex, ONPosition type: Full Time (35 hrs./week)Posting #: SWA-6-24 Opening Date: June 7, 2024Closing date: June 23, 2024Who We Are: The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is the governmental agency charged with the responsibility of providing an economical and environmentally conscious integrated solid waste management system for the County of Essex and the City of Windsor. The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County of Essex and the City of Windsor in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling.In A Nutshell:Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration for the EWSWA, the Accounting Clerk A is responsible for the administration of data and information associated with the Geoware Waste Management Information System software program. In addition, the Accounting Clerk A will be responsible for the processing and preparation of customer account invoices and statements; maintenance of accounts receivables and the various reporting requirements requested by EWSWA managers, contractors and City of Windsor Administration. Partial List of Duties Include:Using the Geoware software to administer data and information pertaining to landfill and transfer station customers, including but not limited to customer business information, tipping fee rates, vehicle information and waste material types;Managing customer accounts and preparing statements using the Sage accounting software;Assist with the maintenance and support of security access systems including security camera software;Assist the County of Essex I.T. department with the managing of all EWSWA sites’ hardware and software changes/updates; Provides back-up for EWSWA Accounting Clerk ‘B’; andGenerate reports using the Geoware software for EWSWA management, contractors and the City of Windsor Administration. What We Are Looking For:2-year college diploma in the area of Business Administration/Accounting1-2 years of related experiencePreference is given to applicants also possessing education and experience in the area of I.T. systems and supportWorking knowledge of the Microsoft Suite ProgramsWorking knowledge of Sage or other accounting softwareKnowledge of accounting principles and conceptsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsOrganizational skills, accuracy and attention to detailMust possess a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers license and access to personal vehicleAble to perform moderate lifting and bending, as requiredHours of Work:Seven (7) paid hours per day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., plus a one-half (½) hour unpaid lunch Monday to Friday.What We Are Offering: A competitive starting rate of $32.42 is just the beginning.
