2X Supervisor-Hair Stylists

Sareya Beauty Inc. (See https://sareyabeauty.com) with locations at Unit #12, 3745 Memorial Drive SE, Calgary, AB T2A 6V4 and 9659 Macleod Trail, Calgary, AB T2J 0P6 (operating as Hair Sense Beauty Supply) has a full time and permanent opening for two (2) Supervisor-Hair Stylists. The job will include the following:

Supervisory Duties
• Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of stylist, braiders, makeup artist, barbers and store front retail staff at both company locations in Calgary and online store
• Establish staff work schedules staff and procedures and co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments
• Resolve work-related problems
• Hire and train salon and retail staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
• Ensure smooth operation of the branch
• Monitor quality of services and respond to customer’s concerns
• Monitor inventory of beauty products being used in the salon and those being sold to the public instore and online.
• Requisition supplies and materials

Hair Stylist Duties
• Assist in salon duties where needed at both locations
• Perform hair care, such as hair shampoo & detangling, braid, style, trim all hair textures, wig making, adjustment and styling.
• Men hair care such as trim beards & mustaches, shave hair, style, braid and cornrow wash, braid, style, trim all hair textures for all clients
• Welcome clients and explain the list of services and products offered
• Booking clients and handling phone calls, emails, walk in guests
• Complete bookings and scheduling efficient
• Confident in sales and retail. Able to assist front desk with clients
• Attend continuing education programs and regular staff meetings to keep skills updated with the newest methods and technologies
• Explain how the service will affect the client’s hair and offer advice on which products to use and which service is best for them
• Evaluating a customer’s hair condition and offer recommendations for treatments
• Recommending hair care products to customers, including moisturizers and shampoos, oils, etc.
• Must be willing to learn and provide hair for all hair textures
• Self-assessment chart for professional growth.

Education
• Qualified Red Seal/Provincial Certificate if Qualification as a hair stylist is required, or approval by Alberta Trades to challenge the examination is required. Therefore applicant will require a minimum of 36 months AND 4,350 hours of work experience as a hair stylist.

Experience
• Experience in salon services with focus on textured hair and different skin types including but not limited to: hair braiding, hair trimming, makeup application, wig making styling and adjustment
• Proficient in English – English is the language at the workplace
• Must be flexible, willing to change days and hours work without prior notice. Working as a team collectively when needed

• Punctual, professional attire, performing all cleaning, reception, and operations checklist
• Professional, salon etiquette. Arrive at work in correct attire and be ready to take on clients.

• Open to correction and willingness to improve professionalism and performance. Avoid taking criticism personally. Constructive criticism is given regularly and must be viewed as productive, and this must be an understanding prior to employment
• KPI must be followed and executed, ongoing training and development will be given to ensure goals and targets are met. Must be open to learn and correction
• Personal hygiene in terms of attire, hair, tied back, name, tag, or uniform, smelling and looking clean

Wages and Benefits
• $25 per hour working 35 to 40 hours per week
• Bonuses could be paid for production and performance
