You will report to the Director of Engineering for ONWest and will be responsible for providing process and equipment design expertise for our clients from conception to completion, including commissioning. By applying your knowledge of process engineering best practices, you will develop designs and strategies to suit the client’s needs based on project performance criteria and/or functional specifications while paying close attention to cost effectiveness and functionality. Collaboration within the team and building and maintaining client relationships is integral to this role. The role requires someone capable of working independently and within a team environment for complex projects. A day in the life:Conduct site visits to understand project scope of work, stakeholder requirements and obtain design data and/or troubleshoot operational challengesPreparation of process design and equipment specificationsCollaborate with vendors and suppliersPrepare cost estimates and quotesAutoCAD development of P&ID’s and LayoutsDevelop bills of material (BOM) and control strategies and functional descriptionsOrganize and supervise installation crews, automation techniciansCommission processes and new equipmentHave fun! Requirements:5 years experience in process design – preferably in the Food and Beverage or the Chemical Processing industriesBachelor’s Degree in Engineering with P.Eng. designation is considered an assetDemonstrated project management skills – Gantt, RACI, cost control, risk managementExcellent interpersonal skills, with a growth mindset and proven successful track record of working with engineers and operation personnelExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSolid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skillsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MSProjectAutoCAD proficiency in P&ID and LayoutsSound engineering foundation (fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass & energy balances, mechanical stress design, structural design, etc.)Experience and familiarity with Rockwell and Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000, SLC5, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, RSView32 and FactoryTalk suite of products is considered an assetBilingual (English / French) considered an assetValid Driver’s LicenseAbility to work in Canada and US – 50-60% travel required Company Description:Qualtech has been satisfying customers since 1996 with their vision of excellence, which is transmitted in large part through their team of professionals.
