Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Supervisor to join our team and provide a safe, nurturing environment for children under our care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and creating a positive impact on their development.
Responsibilities
– Supervise and monitor the safety of children in your care
– Plan and implement age appropriate activities to stimulate the children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth
– Create a structured daily schedule including playtime, meals, and naptime
– Maintain a clean and organized childcare environment
– Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns that may arise
Requirements
– Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
– Ability to engage and educate children through various activities
– Strong communication skills to interact with children, parents, and other staff members effectively
– Registered ECE (Required)
– Good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
– Minimum 1 year working in a licensed childcare facility in Supervisory role
– Able to obtain a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate – Level C, and meet health requirements
– Experience with Montessori method an asset
– Food Handler’s Certificate an asset
Supervisor’s duties and responsibilities
– Collaborate with staff to develop and implement creative child programs that are age appropriate
– Develop and grow philosophies and practices to meet the children’s needs
– Foster an environment that respects children’s strengths, rights, and needs
– Oversee programming content and age appropriateness of programming
– Ensure centre complies with the Ministry of Education Child Care and Early Years Act and the Municipal criteria
– Lead and mentor staff in the development and implementation of children’s programming
– Working closely with Directors and assist in all aspects of the day-to- day operations of the centre
– Lead in managing facilities and ensure a safe and healthy environment
– Able to support Directors in the implementation of policies and procedures.
– Ability to work as an effective team member, fostering a child-centered, family-friendly atmosphere
– Maintain the quality, raise the standard of the centre and enrollments, waitlist
– Ensure that children receive healthy, nutritious, and balanced lunches and snacks in accordance with all applicable public health
– Lead staff by motivating, mentoring, and coaching
– Promote staff performance through frequent formal and informal constructive feedback and staff evaluations
– Maintain ongoing and regular communication with parents through various methods such as emails, newsletters, monthly update.
– Assist in age appropriate and positive Behaviour Management of children
– Additional duties required by Directors to ensure proper centre operations
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
Additional pay: – Bonus pay – Overtime pay
Schedule: – Monday to Friday
Experience: – Supervisor minimum: 1 year (required)
