Beef Cattle Herdsperson

If you enjoy working outside, then consider working for Scholten Farms. Scholten Farms is a family orientated growing feedlot in Southern Alberta. An expansion now complete we are seeking a self starting, positive individual who wants to be able to work in all areas of a feedlot.

Job duties include:
– Check the well being of cattle, able to pick out ill or injured animals.
– Treating the animals, processing, sorting, implanting, receiving and shipping of cattle.
– Working with the veterinarian on cattle health and treatment.
– Feedlot maintenance (fences, water troughs, etc.)
– Bedding/pen maintenance.
– May be some feeding of the cattle in all aspects.
– Servicing equipment.
– Silage pit maintenance.
– Wintertime may include snow removal.
– Operation of equipment, ie. Loader, tractor, farm truck, etc.
– Yard maintenance, feedlot yard, shop, etc.

Qualifications:
– Great communication skills (in-person, emails, texting).
– Valid driver’s license
– Basic math skills
– Ability to life 50lbs/25 kg
– Microsoft office, SSG Fusion an asset (training will be provided).
– A team oriented individual

Experience:
– Previous experience in working with cattle and equipment an asset.
