General Maintenance Worker

We are looking for an experienced General Maintenance worker to work in our Independent Health
Facilities located in Durham Region.

Duties
include but are not limited to:

Check functionality and perform daily inspections on the clinic systems (Wifi, Phone, Fax, IT, Electrical, Security, Plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
Conduct routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, repairing broken locks, painting and drywall repair, etc.
Making recommendations and requests for new maintenance products and equipment as necessary
Respond to requests for repairs
Arrange and provide general assistance to trades-persons for repairs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.)
Ensure that the security and safety measures are in place, by monitoring security systems, changing access codes routinely, and performing daily after hours inspection.
Move heavy equipment and supplies
Install appliances and equipment
Schedule and supervise Service Workers
Collaborate with workers and other professionals, especially during renovations
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment and place orders and as required (ex. light bulbs, ceiling tiles, paint, etc.)
Scheduling deliveries from suppliers and keeping an inventory of maintenance tools and supplies

Skills and Qualifications
include but are not limited to:

At least 2 years of previous experience working as a Maintenance Technician or in a related position.
wide variety of skills to address all aspects of the facility’s condition and compliance.
General construction skills
Organizational skills and record-keeping skills
Ability to work in various temperatures
Outstanding thinking and reasoning skills
Proficiency in the use of computers
Ability to work independently, but also as a part of a team
Excellent attention to detail
Experience using hand and electrical tools
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
Very good communication and interpersonal skills
Physical stamina and dexterity to move heavy equipment and supplies.
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of an apprenticeship is required???
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with supervision and inventory software for record-keeping as well.
