General Labourer – Farm

As a key player of our team, the General Labourer / Farm Worker will be assisting in packing market fresh potatoes, operating packing equipment in a team-based environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Grade and examine produce following Canada Gap guidelines
• Pack fresh market potatoes
• Potato storages and farm cleaning maintenance
• Seed cutting
• Operate and maintain packing and farming equipment
• Assist in planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting crops

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Experience in farming is an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and identify equipment issues
• Ability to set priorities and establish timeframes
• Excellent attention to detail
• Capable to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license and has access to a reliable vehicle

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• The hours for this position are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Overtime will be required periodically and during harvest (Sept/Oct) and planting season (May).
• The potato farming environment consists of indoor/outdoor work including: wet/damp, noisy, dusty, hot/cold and odorous conditions.
• This job is physical, it consists of repetitive tasks (bending, reaching, and lifting), standing for long periods of time, requires high levels of concentration (operating packing and farming equipment) and great attention to detail.
