Carpenter

The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, alteration and maintenance of equipment and apparatus found in an Industrial environment in a safe and quality manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Construction and installation of concrete forms and rebar matting per drawings.
  • Knowledge of crane signals for movement of materials
  • Studies construction drawings, sketches, building plans, and specifications for information pertaining to requirements and dimensions.
  • Prepares layouts using appropriate tools.
  • Fabricates materials to prescribed measurements using appropriate tools such as hand or power saws, chisels, and planes.
  • Material identification by type and dimension.
  • Mathematic skills as they pertain to job activities.
  • Knowledge of construction terminology.
  • Read and understand the work permits.
  • Basic rigging knowledge
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and maintains housekeeping of job site.
  • Returns all tools and materials used by the crew to the proper place at the end of shift.
  • Must fully participate in the safety assessment of the job and completion of JSA’s.
  • Fully participate in health, safety, quality and environmental processes.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Red Seal Ticket
  • Valid Confined Space, Fall Arrest, Powerline Hazard and WHMIS certificates
  • Ability to successfully interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the types of materials and equipment to use and plan the required tasks
  • Ability to adhere to company safety policies and procedures
  • Working at heights and confined spaces
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Demands

By applying for this job, you acknowledge and understand that the regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):

  • Regularly lifts/moves objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50 lbs are required.
  • Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing.
  • Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. Ladders/scaffolding).
  • Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards.
