The Palliser School Division currently invites enthusiastic individuals to apply for the Full-Time Career Practitioner position available starting August 26, 2024, to work with students in Coaldale and surrounding area.

Responsibilities:
• Assisting students in the career planning process: self-awareness (personal assessment), exploration and discovery, action planning and decision-making utilizing division supported programs and tools.
• Assisting students and parents with exploring all facets of planning for post-secondary education: applications, financial assistance, scholarships, bursaries, awards. (May include scholarship information nights, career nights, etc.)
• Promoting and providing a program that enables parents and school staff to become active partners in the education and career plans of their children.
• Supporting academic success and high school completion through advising students in course planning aligned to high school diploma requirements and students’ postsecondary and career/employment aspirations.
• Providing on-going communication with parents with regard to opportunities for information such as application and scholarship deadlines, job fairs, and graduation requirements.
• Work in conjunction with the off-campus teacher to support and encourage student participation in off-campus opportunities such as work experience, RAP, Green Certificate and Dual Credit that encourage career exploration and skill development.
• Collaborating with off-campus teachers to address the post-secondary & career needs of students.
• Liaising with the off-campus teacher to support business and employment contacts for students to become familiar with local and regional career opportunities.
• Provide access to information and resources that support student exploration of post-secondary opportunities.
• Supporting teachers with the integration of career education across all subject areas.
• Assisting schools in planning and/or facilitating career activities and events.
• Supporting staff by providing career research and information services.
• Maintaining linkages with other youth-serving organizations in the region.

Experience & Qualifications:
• University degree in related field;
• Training and/or experience in Career and Academic advising for high school students;
• Successful Criminal Reference Check, including vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date)

In order to maintain a safe and secure working environment, applicants new to The Palliser School Division must provide:
• Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector check from Local Police Service or RCMP detachment;
• Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or document issued by Service Canada; SIN card/document must be in current legal name. Name on SIN card/document must match your Government Issued ID and Criminal Record Check;
• Government issued ID – valid driver’s license, valid passport or Nexus card.
