Field Safety Advisor

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

The Field Safety Advisor is expected to contribute to a positive working environment with a continued commitment to safety and provide field-based leadership and support for the implementation, enforcement and continuous improvement of the site’s Health, Safety and Environment programs.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety Program from a recognized University or College
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Designation or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an industrial setting
  • Working knowledge of NL OHS Act and Regulations
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with a wide range of stakeholders

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate, implement, monitor and lead JSA’s, hazard assessments, planned general inspections and other auditing as required
  • Provide general safety support, guidance, and interpretation to field personnel.
  • Conduct field compliance auditing and inspections
  • Ensure field safety systems are being checked and monitored
  • Participate and assist with the development and maintenance of Occupational, Health and Safety Management Programs
  • Participate and assist with ongoing safety related project work
  • Participate and assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Participate and assist with the development of safety related initiatives

  • Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbs are required
  • Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing
  • Use of gross and fine motor skills and maintaining physical balance (e.g., Ladders/scaffolding)
  • Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards
