Position Details

Context:

The Information Technology (IT) Department ensures that the corporations IT infrastructure, security, software and communications needs are met. The Systems and Operations section manages and maintains all IT infrastructure including security, network, LAN/WAN, communication/collaboration systems, servers, storage, business applications, databases and cloud services. This team also provides hardware and software support, including operation of the NLHC’s corporate helpdesk. The Systems Development section designs, develops, implements and maintains new and upgraded software solutions, manages the acquisition/installation and upgrade of software from external vendors, provides software training in corporate systems, performs application support to end users, develops and maintains the corporation’s data and reporting.

Duties:

The incumbent will ensure the smooth workflow within the Information Technology Department by answering and triaging all IT help desk calls received via telephone, email, and walk-in appointments. The incumbent must identify the nature of helpdesk incidents and determine the appropriate course of action. Where possible, the incumbent will provide front-line support and assistance to callers, resolving issues immediately, such as resetting passwords and guiding employees through initial troubleshooting techniques like computer reboots. When front-line resolution is not possible, the incumbent will identify and direct the request to the appropriate support person, providing follow-up as applicable. The successful candidate will edit and maintain the departmental intranet page and the telephone directory on the corporate website. The incumbent supports IT management in monitoring IT maintenance support contracts, produces telephone usage reports, and serves as the primary point of contact with communications companies, providing support for ordering, transferring, and troubleshooting mobile devices and landlines. This position also reviews all mobile telephone issues and distributes telephone invoices to various departments and regions. Additionally, the successful applicant is required to complete clerical duties for the department, including creating purchase orders and receiving invoices, typing documents, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, organizing/maintaining files and computerized records (including employee attendance), and assisting with purchasing processes. The incumbent will interact with IT staff and other stakeholders on an ongoing basis, ensuring effective communication and coordination within the department and other duties as required.

Criteria

Screening Criteria:

  • College diploma program in business or office administration (Equivalencies may be considered)
  • Experience in a client service capacity
  • Experience in administrative/clerical support
  • Experience providing IT triage support in a helpdesk environment (asset)

Assessment Criteria:

  • Knowledge of business application software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and office procedures
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable
  • Knowledge of document management systems, such as Content Manager (asset)
