Fire and Safety Technician

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
The Fire and Safety Technician is expected to contribute to a positive working environment with a continued commitment to safety and provide field-based leadership and support for the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of the site’s Health, Safety and Environment programs.

Qualifications

  • NFPA 1001 Level I and II
  • HAZMAT NFPA 472 Operations Level Certification
  • Emergency Medical First Responder – (EMR)
  • Industrial High Angle Rope Rescue Certification
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Minimum 3 years Emergency Response experience
  • Working knowledge of NL OHS Act and Regulations
  • Valid license Class 5 with Air Brakes Endorsement (required)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Provide Emergency and Safety Services to the organization
  • Fire Response
  • HAZMAT Response
  • Oil Spill Response
  • Confined Space & High Angle Rescue
  • First Aid
  • Training
  • Field Safety Inspections
  • Maintaining Fire and Life Safety Equipment

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbs are required
  • Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing
  • Use of gross and fine motor skills and maintaining physical balance (e.g., Ladders/scaffolding)
  • Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards
