Job Description

The Residence Dining Hall Supervisor works with the Residence Dining Hall Manager and Executive Chef at Ararmark?s food and beverage service at Memorial University.  You will assist the Manager with daily food service operations in the residence dining hall.  This includes the supervision of staff and helping to plan, organize and direct all aspects of the food service operations on a day-to-day basis.

Job Responsibilities

?    Supervise the day-to-day operations for the food service and operations on the floor
?    Meet daily with the Manager to discuss operational and staffing concerns
?    Supervise and direct food production planning, waste management and record keeping
?    Proactively manage food and labour cost controls
?    Assist with recruitment, training, staff orientation, scheduling and filling shifts as needed
?    Supervise cash handling procedures, balance cash float, Safe and verify Deposits
?    Ensure food safety standards and HACCP are always followed
?    Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary
?    Follow the Operational Excellence fundamentals by maintaining food and labor initiatives  
?    Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, customers and employees  
?    Follow all policies, rules and regulations relating to safety, health, wage and hour

Qualifications

?    1-2 years supervisory experience preferably in a food service environment
?    Previous culinary or food production planning experience is preferred
?    Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
?    Experience recruiting, hiring and scheduling staff
?    Proven ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
?    Strong organizational and team building skills with the ability to coach and motivate staff
?    Knowledge of Microsoft Office ? Excel, Word, PowerPoint
?    Ability to work flexible hours? shiftwork including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
