Casual/Weekend Caretaker Wanted

St. Martin's United Church

St. Martin’s United Church is seeking a caretaker for casual weekend and vacation relief when our permanent caretaker is away.

Start date- As soon as possible.

Responsibilities:
• Sweep, mop, & vacuum floors
• Clean, & disinfect bathrooms.
• Clean and disinfect public areas.
• Pick up debris and empty trash containers.
• Set-up chairs in Sanctuary for worship service
• Set up for events/meetings
• Snow removal

Requirements
• Willing and helpful, with a heart to support a busy congregation.
• Physically fit and able to handle various tasks involving lifting, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing and have the ability to lift at least 20lbs
• Be available for on call weekend work.
• Be available for vacation relief (advance notice will be given)
• Professional, reliable and punctual with an exceptional work ethic
• Effective organization skills
• A team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proactive, able to take ownership and initiative.
• Openness to enact our congregation’s mission and values as well as to the ethos of the United Church of Canada.
• Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check upon employment

Pay
• There will be a stipend of $100 per day for each day you are called to St. Martin’s for caretaking duties related to weekend rentals or event setups.
• For vacation relief or any other duties, you will be compensated at a rate of $20.50 per hour, with a minimum of 3 hours paid for each occasion.
• Please note that this position is not eligible for UCC pension or benefits.
