Driver Orientation & Training Coordinator

We are looking for a Driver Orientation & Training Coordinator to join our Connors Transfer team in Woodstock, NB.

The Driver Orientation & Training Coordinator is required, among other duties, to facilitate orientation training for new drivers joining our team, perform driver evaluations for driver candidates, which includes on-the-road evaluations, pre-trip & post-trip inspection reviews and overall professional driver assessments, and work collaboratively with the recruitment team members, safety team members, and operations team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full driver orientation process, including working with different department team members to ensure an efficient and effective on-boarding experience for new drivers.
  • Ensure compliance during training via observations and evaluations, and communicate any issues promptly to appropriate recruitment, safety, and management team members.
  • Complete on-the-road driving evaluations, as well as pre-trip and post-trip inspection evaluations.
  • Review road evaluations with the recruiter and safety team member to collaboratively determine next step as well as input driver evaluations into their respective dashboard.
  • Overseeing the fuel consumption program, including discussions with individual drivers where improvement plans are required.
  • Liaise with the maintenance team members to maximize efficiency in getting new drivers into tractors once their orientation is completed.
  • Provide direction and guidance to drivers to ensure on-time service requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Assist in the development ad implementation of new procedures as required to increase efficiencies within their scope of work.
  • Assist other Operations Team members as required.

Job Requirements

  • Class 1 or AZ Licence.
  • Must have a clean drivers abstract.
  • More than 2 Years in Driver Training Experience would be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of North American trucking regulations and geography.
  • Strong knowledge of ELD / HOS regulations and laws.
  • Must maintain a positive and approachable attitude.
  • Strong understanding of dispatch operations in the transportation industry.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
