Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd (https://www.wesdome.com/English/overview/default.aspx) is a mining, exploration and development Company. The Company needs two (2) full time and permanent Geological Technicians at the Eagle River Mine site, (93 Mission Road, Wawa, Ontario, P0S 1K0. The head office is located at 220 Bay St, Suite 1200, Toronto, Ontario, M5J 2W4

Duties

• Complete all tasks under supervision and guidance of a professional Geologist
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of rock/core samples
• Perform logging and sampling of core including preparing samples for submitting to assay lab, tracking and receiving results
• Perform data entry from core logging and analyze data
• Collection and interpretation of geological data under guidance of a geologist
• Prepare notes and sketches, and perform field work, logging and geological mapping
• Assist in preparing and logging geological survey data and in preparation of reports
• Maintain health, safety and environmental standards
• Provide other support to the exploration team and carry out a range of other technical functions to assist

Required skills

• Must be able to complete the work above
• Understanding of knowledge of geological mapping and concepts using GPS, DGPS and compass
• Familiarity with mining industry regulations
• Attention to detail, teamwork skills, methodical approach to work
• Valid Driver License
• Standard 1st Aid is an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and geological software will be an asset
• Fluent in English

Work Experience

• Familiarity with mining industry relations and best practices is an asset
• 1 – 3 years of employment experience in mineral exploration preferred

Qualifications

• College Diploma in Geology or Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Earth Science or related field from any jurisdiction

Wage and Benefits

• Rate per hour is $38.52 (Salary is $77,128.00 per year)
• A typical work schedule is a 14/14 rotation (14 days on, 14 days off in a camp setting)
• This position is based at our mining camp; room and board are provided during your rotation
• This role works 11 hour shifts per day
• Overtime paid after 154 hours bi-weekly
• 2 weeks’ vacation

• This role is eligible for an annual salary increase (generally in the range of 1 % to 5%) and bonus (target 7%) based on individual and company performance
