Job Description:Job Description Gas Station Attendant Reference ID# CMS 155 Employment Type: PT Number of Positions: 1 Location: 1200 Baker St., Cranbrook, BC The Role Gas Station Attendants are responsible for assisting customers, maintaining the appearance of the Gas Bar, and conducting all duties in a safe, professional, and courteous manner. All attendants must be trained in gasoline operations and safety procedures, including those attendants who cover breaks. Primary duties are described below. Accountabilities: Premium Customer ServiceServing customers promptly and courteously.Explaining Fuel discount programs procedures and savings to customers.Answering customer questions knowledgeably.Serving customer transactions at the cash register.Assisting customers.Dispensing fuel for customers (We Serve Locations only). EnvironmentalTaking appropriate precautions to prevent spills.Notifying supervisor of any fuel spills or suspected leaks and responding to/or cleaning up spills in accordance with emergency procedures described elsewhere in this manual. Pricing Checking pump displays and signs for price accuracy. Gas Bar MaintenanceCompleting daily inspection forms and placing completed forms in binder in kiosk. Opening and/or closing the Gas Bar including completing daily opening/closing checklists and placing completed forms in binder in kiosk. Replenishing windshield washer fluid and ensuring squeegees are in satisfactory condition.Stocking paper towel dispensers with paper towels from the kiosk.Cleaning surface of pumps and fire extinguisher holders.Cleaning card readers at each pump with cleaning card from store.Replacing receipt tape in kiosk when required.Sweeping area around Gas Bar.Ensuring coffee area is clean and stocked.Disposing of garbage from trash cans in store’s dumpster.Checking spill kit and fire extinguishers to confirm they are accessible and have not been tampered with.Replenishing kiosk as directed by the Gas Bar Operator or Team Coordinator.Cleaning and sanitizing kiosk, including sweeping and mopping floor, wiping counters, cleaning sinks, washroom, etc.Clearing snow and ice from kiosk entrance and in pump island area.Report maintenance requirements to management (e.g., burned out bulbs, malfunctioning equipment, damaged equipment).Posting “Out of Order” signs on non-functioning equipment. Fire SafetyTaking precautions to prevent fires and explosions.Responding to fires in accordance with procedures described in the Fire Safety section of this manual.Ensuring that vehicle engines are shut off during fueling.Ensuring that there is no one smoking on site, including in the kiosk or inside cars.Ensuring that flammable materials such as newspapers are not stored within 3 m of the pumps. Fuel Deliveries Following procedures for accepting fuel deliveries. Container FillingEnsuring that only government-approved portable containers are filled with gasoline.Ensuring that portable containers are removed from vehicles prior to filling. SecurityFollowing security procedures regarding door locks, alarm, CCTV, etc.Documenting drive-off incidents. Health and SafetyKnow and comply with company policies, procedures and practices, and with regulatory requirements such as Occupational Health and Safety, Workers’ Compensation Board, etc. Financial Ensuring proper cash handling procedures are adhered to. Personal AppearanceEnsuring personal appearance requirements are met and uniform policy.
